In today’s world, information manipulation poses a critical challenge in the digital era. This masterclass is designed for beginners seeking a comprehensive understanding of navigating the information landscape. This masterclass will explore transparency, ethics, and the fundamentals of fact-checking for accuracy and accountability. You will also gain hands-on proficiency in verifying diverse content formats and investigating the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and fact-checking. By completing this masterclass, participants will be able to:
- Recognise the significance of fact-checking in the context of journalism, information dissemination, and public discourse in upholding accuracy, accountability, and ethical standards in journalism and information sharing.
- Critically analyse information, sources, and claims, fostering a sceptical and investigative mindset.
- Acquire practical skills and techniques for verifying information, including assessing sources, cross-referencing data, and identifying common misinformation tactics.
- Recognise and address emerging challenges in the digital age, including deep fakes, AI-generated content, and other evolving misinformation tactics.
- Understand the intersection of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, and fact-checking, and understand how technological trends impact the field.
- Laptop: Bring a laptop or tablet with you for the practical sessions. Having a personal device will allow you to actively participate and engage with the training materials, including assessing the web tools.
- Good Internet Connection: The webinar will be conducted online, so we encourage you to have a reliable internet connection
- Webinar platform access: Download and Install the Zoom application. We will share login details with participants once they apply for the training.
- Pre-training survey: Once you complete the application form, you will be asked to complete a 7-minute pre-training survey form to assess your baseline knowledge and customise the training support for you.
